This weekend is a busy sports weekend in Cuba with two important events being held: the 13th Annual Terry Fox Run on Saturday and the Barrientos Track and Field Cup that opens on Friday
Competing at the Barrientos Cup will be Dayron Robles, fresh off a gold medal last week at the World Indoor Championships in Qatar in the 60-meter hurdles; and triple-jumper Yargelis Savigne who won silver in Qatar with a jump of 14.86 meters.
Finals for the Barrientos Cup will take place on Friday (15 events), Saturday (13), and Sunday (18).
The immensely popular Terry Fox Run against cancer will be held across the island, with the central activity taking place at the Kid Chocolate sports arena in Havana.
Radio Reloj will transmit the starting signal at 10 a.m. for the run. Special guests this year are Terry Fox’s parents and sister.
